Surely You're Ijoking, Mr KJ!

The money has started rolling into Ijok even before nomination day (Apr 19). The MB of "developed state" Selangor announced a RM36mil "planned" development for the constituency which has to be spent within 2 weeks. He even threatened that contractors who couldn't finish the job will be replaced. Of course, he is taking the cue from the EC Chief who said that this kind of development sweeteners are not vote-buying. Even so, it is interesting to note how long these "planned" development have been planned, and why it requires a BN rep to die before they are put into action. Already, the joke around town is that a good BN rep is a dead one!

Anyway, the title of this post is a play on the title of the book called "Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman!". I read this book sometime ago and it is mainly about the humourous adventures of Nobel Physics Laureate Dr Richard Feynman. One would naturally stereotype physicists as typically very boring folks who have no lives other than spending their time holed up in their ivory towers, dabbling with exotic problems in physics which do not seem to have any relation with the usual reality of life. Feynman, on all counts, seem to defy that image pretty well...which brings me to this:

You would have thought that the typical investment banker, Oxford graduate with a background of upscale/elite schools would behave in a certain typical fashion (I leave it to the readers to construct that stereotype as they see fit. Maybe the following pic would give a hint? ;-) ).

But looks like KJ is equally versatile in playing roles which are in exact opposite of what is to be expected of their kind. That just goes to show how he is one political animal which his opponents (and I am not only talking about the obvious opponents in the opposition) need to really be wary of. If needed, maybe they should also start "joking" around more, just like KJ here!
